3/4  MUGshot Monday – editing exercise and comma splice assignment; Greek Mythology – Students will read story of Psyche and Eros, take notes as they read, and create flashcards for Psyche, Eros (different from the earlier Eros), Aphrodite, and Zephyrus; HOMEWORK:  QuickWrite #4 – “Do you believe in fate/destiny? Do you believe that there is one perfect person on the planet that you are supposed to fall in love with or do you believe that there are many people in the world with whom you could be happily married?”

3/5  Greek Mythology – Students will read story of Daedalus, take notes as they read, and create flashcards for Daedalus, Icarus, Minos, Minotaur; HOMEWORK:  read novel for Book Talk 3/6-8; SAT Vocabulary List 8 TEST Friday

2/22 Greek Mythology:  Read myth of Kronos & Zeus completing a Notesheet and beginning flashcards for 6 characters – Titans, Zeus, Rhea, Hera, Poseidon, Hades

2/19  LTOW:  hyperbole; Reading Passage Corrections – students will review the previous reading benchmarks, analyze incorrect answer choices, and explain reason for correct answer

2/20  Poetry Unit:  Students will take notes on how to read poetry and begin defining poetry terms

2/21  Poetry Unit:  Pop Music vs Classic Poetry – In groups, students will read, annotate, and discuss “Stereo Hearts” and “A Red, Red Rose” as they compare and contrast the selections

2/22  Poetry Unit:  Pop Music vs Classic Poetry – In partners, students will read, annotate, and discuss “Breakeven” and Sonnet 30 as they compare and contrast the selections; HOMEWORK – Students need to read their novels for Book Talks March 6-8
