3/26  Literary Term of the Week:  Paradox; Poetry Unit:  Students will take notes over how to read/analyze poetry and complete an assignment on literary terms; review answers before end of class; Homework:  memorize terms and definitions for upcoming quiz on Thursday; SAT Vocabulary List 6 TEST Thursday

3/27  Poetry Unit:  Students will take notes over Metaphysical Poetry and author John Donne; in groups, students will read “A Valediction:  Forbidden Mourning” and work through notes to analyze the selection; SAT Vocabulary List 6 TEST Thursday along with poetry terms QUIZ

3/28  Poetry Unit:  Students will read classic poetry and pop culture poetry then complete a comparison and contrast of the two; students will participate in a whole class discussion of their personal analysis; SAT Vocabulary List 6 TEST Thursday along with poetry terms QUIZ

3/29  Poetry Unit:  Students will take a QUIZ over poetry terms and a TEST over SAT Vocabulary List 6; Homework:  students will do a personal comparison/contrast over another piece of classic and pop culture poetry as posted in the Google Classroom.

AP English Lit

10/23:  Literary Term of the Week – catharsis; Vocabulary SAT List 3 Test on Friday;

10/24:  Band Competition at Pine Tree; students who are in class will work on their literary analysis research paper – Rough Drafts due tomorrow and Final Drafts DUE Friday 10/27

10/25:  Students will work through the revision and editing steps on their rough drafts of the literary analysis research papers which are DUE Friday 10/27

10/26:  Students will begin prep work for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) by reading the beginning of a YA novel, critiquing the writing style and character development, and outlining the rest of the story; Research Papers DUE Tomorrow

10/27:  Students will take the Vocabulary SAT List 3 TEST; Students will work through an outlining exercise for their novel which will be written during NaNoWriMo

English IV

10/23:Literary Term of the Week – catharsis; Vocabulary SAT List 3 Test on Friday; Students will begin the College Research Project DUE 10/25

10/24:  Band Competition at Pine Tree; students who are in class will use their time to continue work on their College Research Project DUE Tomorrow 10/25

10/25:  Students will work through the application for the Common App or Apply Texas; including the college application essay –

10/26:  Students will write a rough draft of their college essay from their outline; Vocabulary SAT List 3 TEST Tomorrow

10/27:  Students will take the Vocabulary SAT List 3 TEST; Students will work through the revision and editing process on their rough drafts of their college application essay DUE Monday

Week 6: September 25 – 29

AP English Lit

9/25-26 – Literary Term of the Week: anthropomorphism; SAT Vocabulary List 2 will be posted in the Classroom – students are to write a sentence for each word where the reader will understand the definition of the word based on context; Students will continue presenting their Pilgrim Projects

9/27 – Wrap-up and Review of all Canterbury Tales projects in preparation for TEST on Friday.

9/28 – Grammar:  Sentence Fragments, Run-Ons, Comma Splices; Students will take notes on identifying errors in sentence construction in order to identify and edit such errors on their own.  Canterbury Tales TEST tomorrow.

9/12 – Overview of The Canterbury Tales Prologue and the Pilgrim Project

9/13 – Students will choose a partner and read the prologue together as they choose a pilgrim to research, study, and present

9/14 – Students will read their chosen pilgrim’s tale and begin work on the Pilgrim Project; SAT Vocabulary List 1 TEST tomorrow; Universal Screener tomorrow
