AP English Lit:

11/27 – Literary Term of the Week:  Epithet; NaNoWriMo – Students will continue writing their novella and logging word count.  8,000 word story is DUE 12/13.

11/28 – SAT Vocabulary List 5 – Students will write a sentence for each word where the definition of the word is completely understood based on context.  Sentences DUE Friday, Dec 1st.  NaNoWriMo – Students will continue writing their novella.  8,000 word story is DUE 12/13.

11/29 – NaNoWriMo – Students will continue writing their novella.  8,000 word story is DUE 12/13.

11/30 – NaNoWriMo – Students will continue writing their novella.  8,000 word story is DUE 12/13.

12/1 – NaNoWriMo – Students will continue writing their novella.  8,000 word story is DUE 12/13.  Students will receive a copy of Heart of Darkness and read Part I for class discussion Monday.

English IV

11/27 – Literary Term of the Week:  Epithet; SAT Vocabulary List 5 – Students will write a sentence for each word where the definition of the word is completely understood based on context.  Sentences DUE Friday, Dec 1st.; Literature Unit 2 The English Renaissance Period – Students will work in groups answering the Essential Questions and then sharing discoveries with the class introducing the unit to be studied.

11/28 – Spenser & Sidney Sonnets – Students will understand and analyze a Petrarchan and Spenserian sonnet and then read sonnets from different authors.  Students will do a comparison and contrast of various sonnets and also analyze conceits in each. SAT Vocabulary List 5 Sentences DUE Friday.

11/29 – Shakespearean Sonnets – Students will take notes on William Shakespeare and then learn the ways Shakespeare changed the sonnet form.  Students will read several sonnets and complete graphic organizer identifying both situation/problem and conclusion/solution included in the sonnets read. SAT Vocabulary List 5 Sentences DUE Friday.

11/30 – Students will write a sonnet following Shakespeare’s form. SAT Vocabulary List 5 Sentences DUE tomorrow.

12/1 – Students will read “Writing Lesson:  Expository Text” on page 280 in literature book and complete graphic organizer over one of Shakespeare’s sonnets for a literary analysis essay.

11/6 – Literary Term of the Week:  conceit; SAT Vocabulary List 4 is up on Google Classroom – assignment is DUE Friday 11/10; NaNoWriMo:  Creating Conflict – We will review the different types of conflict both internal and external as students continue working through the preparation work for their novella.

11/7 – NaNoWriMo:  Plot Summary – We will review the various steps of organizing a plot before the students begin writing the outline of their novella.  Outlines are DUE Thursday.

11/8 – NaNoWriMo:  Plot Summary – Students will continue working on the outline of their novella through one-on-one conferencing.  Outlines DUE tomorrow.

11/9 – NaNoWriMo:  Writing Dialogue – Students will review the mechanics of writing dialogue.  Students will begin writing their novella (8,000 words).  Novella is DUE 12/15.

11/10 – NaNoWriMo:  Students will continue writing their novella (8,000 words). Novella is DUE 12/15.
